PAGE 2 A note from your Treasurer. . . “And the Lord said, “Who then is that faithful and wise steward . . .?” Luke 12:42 The Board of Directors for the Daughters of the King in the Diocese of Tennessee met on February 21, 2004 to adopt a new budget for 2004 and to review the 2003 budget. I have attempted to anticipate a few questions you may have concerning finances: What is the source of our income? The National Office remits to each DOK
Diocesan Treasurer a portion of dues paid by the Daughters within their Diocese;
this is currently $5 per member. We have included in our budget dues from
approximately 300 members. If you have not paid your dues in recent years, your
payment of $35 would reinstate you; $25 of your dues stays with National, $5 goes
to Province and $5 to the Diocese. If you are unable to pay your dues, please
contact your local chapter to see if there are scholarships available. There is a
modest amount available in the Diocesan DOK budget. Please contact our
President, Leslee Karl, or myself, if you wish to apply. (Editors Note: If dues have
not been paid for three years, a Daughter will be removed from membership. She
may not hold office and does not have voice or vote until her dues are current. She
may be reinstated to active status by following the procedures listed in the
Bylaws.)
How is our income spent? In 2003, our budget included expenditures for:
Assembly speakers, display fee for Diocesan Convention, expenses for our
President to attend Triennial and board meetings, vestments, production of the
“Trumpet”, etc.
I will have copies of our budget available at the Spring Assembly if you wish
to review them. Thanks again to Charlotte Sturm, past Treasurer, for her years of service to our organization. We are thankful to those who have been faithful to the Order in paying dues, but more importantly, for your Prayers, Service, and Evangelism. You are the faithful and wise stewards. FHS, Sarah Sutherland |
